Cycling and Truffle Hunting

Istria bike tour and truffle hunting

Experience the beautiful Istrian countryside and partake in the local tradition of truffle hunting on this exciting cycling tour. The trip is perfect for those looking to explore inland Istria in a fun and active way while also getting a taste of the local way of life.

We’ll have the chance to cycle through the forests surrounding the picturesque town of Motovun and take in views of Istria’s medieval hilltop villages, vineyards, olive groves and meadows dotting the rolling hills and valleys.

After enjoying a lunch filled with truffles, we will embark on a genuine truffle hunting experience. With the help of a local truffle hunter and trained dogs, we will learn about the art of finding truffles and the history of this delicacy.

10:00 Meet at the starting point, safety briefing, start cycling.
13:00 End of cycling and a short break.
13:30 Preparations, instructions and start of truffle hunting.
15:00 Lunch (includes truffles and truffle products) and refreshing drinks.
15:30 Optional walk around Motovun.

All prices are per person, with a minimum of 4 people per group. We can do the tour for groups smaller than 4, but the price will be higher for each person. Private tours are also available – contact us for more details.

Prices include:

  • Cycling guide and truffle hunting guide with dogs
  • Lunch (truffle products)
  • Use of equipment and bicycles
  • Insurance

Not included:

  • Drinks and snacks during the cycling part of the trip
  • Tips for your guide(s)
  • Transfers to and from the starting point

CANCELLATIONS:

In the case of extreme weather conditions, Terra Magica Adventures will reschedule the activity for a day or two prior to or after the date booked, if possible. If the change is not possible, payments will be refunded in full.

All clients’ cancellations must be in writing by email.
Cancellation charges per person (percentage of total price):

  • 8 or more days prior to arrival – 0%
  • 2-7 days prior to arrival – 50%
  • 1 day prior to arrival or no show – 100%

Arrival and departure point: Details provided upon booking.

Transfers: Transfers from various locations in Istria to the starting point are available on request (subject to availability – charges may apply).

Maximum number of participants: 8 guests per group. Larger groups on request.

Minimum age: 10 years if accompanied by parent(s).

Optional lunch requests: Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and other options available. Please notify us in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.

Things to bring with you: Walking shoes, water, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, hat, some cash for drinks and other expenses, snacks, spare t-shirt and cycling clothes.

Note: This itinerary is subject to change dependent on group abilities and preferences, weather and special events. Terra Magica Adventures guides will do their utmost to ensure the best possible experience for their clients without compromising safety at any time. This may mean changing the original itinerary to avoid discomfort or risk, which could be caused by exceptional heat or cold, stormy weather, heavy traffic or other reasons beyond our control.
