Motovun to Baredine Cave Cycling

Istria E-Bike Tour on the Parenzana Bike Trail: Motovun to Baredine Cave

Cycle from the medieval hilltop town of Motovun to Baredine Cave on this exciting full-day e-bike tour. We’ll begin just below picturesque Motovun and follow the historic Parenzana railway through the countryside. From the trail, we’ll enjoy views of inland Istria’s hills and valleys, local farms and even some waterfalls during the wetter months.

The trip includes a visit to Baredine Cave, an interesting karst formation featuring stalactites and stalagmites formed by flowing water over millions of years. Although Baredine has been open to tourists only since 1995, local inhabitants have made use of the cave since prehistoric times. During the visit, you’ll follow a path taking you 60 meters below the ground and learn about the cave’s history and local legends. Air temperature in the cave hovers around 14 °C, so be sure to bring a light jacket for the tour.

After visiting the cave, we will return to the starting point in Motovun. The trip should take around 7 hours from start to finish and is a moderate level of difficulty.

All prices are per person, with a minimum of 4 people per group. We can do the tour for groups of less than 4, but the price for each person will be higher. Private tours are also available – contact us for more details.

CANCELLATIONS:

In the case of extreme weather conditions, Terra Magica Adventures will reschedule the activity for a day or two prior to or after the date booked, if possible. If the change is not possible, payments will be refunded in full.

All clients’ cancellations must be in writing by email.
Cancellation charges per person (percentage of total price) are as follows:

  • 8 or more days prior to arrival – 0%
  • 2-7 days prior to arrival – 50%
  • 1 day prior to arrival or no show – 100%

Arrival and departure point: Terra Magica Adventures starting point near Motovun (details provided upon booking).

Transfers: Transfers to the starting point from various locations in Istria are available on request (subject to availability – charges may apply).

Maximum number of participants: 8 guests per group. Larger groups may be available on request.

Minimum age: 10 years if accompanied by parent(s).

Things to bring with you: Walking or cycling shoes, water, sunscreen, some cash for food and drinks, snacks, cycling clothes, spare t-shirt, daypack and light jacket to wear in the cave.

Terra Magica Adventures guides will do their utmost to ensure the best possible experience for their clients without compromising safety at any time.
